WHEN LIFE MAKES YOU HIT THE ROOF – STEPPING INTO 2026 WITH A HOPE THAT HOLDS
Let me start with a joke — and don’t worry, it’s going somewhere.
A husband decided to swap their bed for a trampoline.
What happened – His wife… hit the roof.
Funny, right?
But stick with me — because that joke might describe your life more accurately than you realise.
Hello and welcome.
I’m really glad you’ve joined me here today at WWCM (Worldwide Christian Ministries).
Whether you’re watching this right now, or catching it later, by reading it as a blog on our website – you’re genuinely welcome here.
And especially as we stand on the edge of a brand-new year — 2026 is just around the corner — I want to talk about something that matters more than resolutions, goals, or fresh planners.
I want to talk about foundations.
Because let’s be honest…
For a lot of people, the last year — maybe even the last few years — haven’t felt like lying down to rest.
They’ve felt like bouncing.
Up… down… unsettled… unpredictable.
One moment things feel steady.
The next moment, something shifts — a decision, a diagnosis, a relationship, a secret — and suddenly you’re airborne, hitting the roof emotionally, mentally, even spiritually.
And maybe as 2026 approaches, you’re thinking:
- “I can’t do another year like that.”
- “I’m exhausted.”
- “If something doesn’t change, I don’t know how I’ll cope.”
If that’s you — you’re not weak.
You’re human.
We love the idea of a fresh start, don’t we?
- New year.
- New habits.
- New energy.
- New focus.
But here’s the uncomfortable truth:
Most of us don’t actually change our foundation — we just rearrange the furniture.
We still rest our lives on things that can’t really hold us:
- Relationships.
- Money.
- Health.
- Success.
- Approval.
- Distraction.
And then life does what life always does.
It shakes.
- Storms don’t check the calendar.
- Loss doesn’t ask permission.
- Sin doesn’t respect resolutions.
And if your foundation is temporary, it will eventually be exposed.
The Bible is brutally honest about this.
“He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will not be shaken.” Psalm 62:6
Notice the word alone.
- Not Jesus plus comfort.
- Not Jesus plus control.
- Not Jesus plus my own backup plan.
He alone.
And this is where people often misunderstand Christianity.
Jesus didn’t come to give us a softer trampoline.
He didn’t come to make life slightly more comfortable while we stay in control.
He came to rescue.
- Not to polish up good people — but to save sinners.
- Not to give motivational advice — but to give new life.
The Gospel says this plainly: We’ve all lived life without God at the centre.
That’s what the Bible calls sin. And sin doesn’t just mess up our lives now — it separates us from God forever.
But God didn’t leave us there.
- Jesus lived the life we couldn’t live.
- He died the death we deserved.
- And He rose again — breaking the power of sin, death, and hell — so that broken people like us could be forgiven, restored, and anchored to something unshakeable.
Maybe 2025 exposed some things for you.
- You thought you were in control — and then you weren’t.
- You thought you were stronger — and then you hit a wall.
- You thought you’d never go back there — and then you did.
And now here you are… standing at the door of a new year, bruised from hitting the roof.
Here’s the good news:
God isn’t waiting to punish you. He’s holding His hands out to catch you.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
- Not when you’ve fixed yourself.
- Not when you’ve sorted everything out.
Just… come.
Jesus.
The One who knows your past, sees your present, and still invites you into His future.
Thanks for being here.
And may you step into 2026 held, grounded, and secure in Christ.
God Bless You
Albert
