“We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – “John 1:14b”
I never cease to be amazed Gods amazing grace and the work of grace of God in my life and I find myself filled with gratitude to Him.
I was considering over the last few days how that God has perfectly “tailored” His Grace and Favour to us. He knew us in fact before all things came into being and He designed the “clothing of grace that would be a perfect fit and be appropriate every occasion of life’s journey”.
- His Grace takes weak people and amazes the strong by making the weak amazingly strong.
- His Grace takes those who are deemed foolish and amazes all by making them Wise.
- His Grace grasps the wounded and scarred and makes them whole.
When we are honest with ourselves as we look in the mirror we recognise that our natural inability and natural weakness is more than amply supplied for us. We can be so encouraged that the Worlds System of thinking is not in any way inhibiting or restrictive to us. Where would we be if He did not pour it His grace upon us daily.
It’s not our upbringing, our education, our friends or family that determines how our journey pans out – It is the Grace of God – His Grace that enables us to fulfil – God’s Potential in our journey from Birth to Glory.
We all are aware that God has requirements of us and that in our own strength we are destined to failure – But experiencing His Grace instigates the confidence that He will accomplish in us that which He wants.
He will truly finish that which He started –
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” – “Philippians 1:6” – American King James Version “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” – “2 Corinthians 12:9” – New International Version
However, I also noticed that further to the blessing of knowing we are saved and His Grace is our habitation we are also: –
- God’s Handiwork
- God’s Masterpiece
- God’s Workmanship
His work of grace is manifested in you and me. His creative work is still in play and His fingers of creation are still moulding us as the potter moulds the clay.
“Ephesians 2:10” – NIV
- “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
New Living Translation
- “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
English Standard Version
- “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
It’s a great blessing today to recognise that we are children of God, chosen before the foundation of the world. “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.” – “Revelation 13:8”
The Book of Life belonging to the Lamb, the Lord Jesus, is the Registry in which God inscribed the names of those chosen for salvation before the foundation of the world.
“Ephesians 1:4” could be phrased to read:
“When God saw us, He said, ‘Out, I say!’ In that moment, He separated us from the rest of the world and enlisted us in His service. And think of it! He did all of this before He ever hurled the first layers of the earth’s crust into existence….”
So, when Paul says that God “…hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world…,” he is saying that God looked out to the horizon of human history – and He saw us! And when God saw us, His voice echoed forth from Heaven: “Out, I say!” In that flash, our destinies were divinely sealed! We were separated by God from a lost and dying world, and He called us to be His own – Amazing, Fabulous, Incredible, Stupendous – There are not enough superlatives to truly describe the greatness of such grace at work.
Thus, before God ever spoke the Universe or our Earth into existence – before His booming voice ever called out for the first layers of the earth’s crust to be put into place – He had already spoken our names! He selected and elected us before the very first layers of the earth were created.
Let’s go forward in our journeys with this in mind as we do it will bring about a change in all we think, live and approach to His Lost & Dying World.
