Remember Who You Are

Remember Who You Are

It’s an unfortunate fact and I’ve seen it expressed on so many occasions that we live our day to day lives and progress in our journeys with a “siege mentality” forgetting who we now are since we were “born again” (John 3).

The truth is, albeit it’s an often-overlooked reality that as Children of God: –

  • We stand in a unique position.
  • We dwell in a unique position.
  • We journey in a unique yet oft times unrecognised position.

Jesus once said in the well-known prayer “…..Thy Kingdom come; Thy Will be done” – adding “On Earth as it is in Heaven” (Matthew 6:19-20). His Kingdom Government, His Kingdom Authority with all its privileges and honours are ours and come along with its profound responsibilities.

What Jesus was saying to us was that we can call upon all the power and the forces of the government of heaven as His Ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20). We can expect as we pray that Gods government will intervene in situations, circumstances, and relationships, that naturally cannot be changed. His will being accomplished here and now, just as it is in heaven.

(Isaiah 9:6) tells us “For a child is born to us, A son is given to us; And the government Is upon His shoulder……” and the next verse tells us “His government will never stop increasing…

However, we are so easily deceived into believing that Gods Kingdom is yet to come. It’s a future event that we have to await. True, the physical Kingdom is yet to come but that does not alter the fact that the Kingdom is Established in us and He is preparing us to govern “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:20-21). In the end we decide which system we will live under.

If you and I are Children of God then we are also citizens of an all-powerful, all-encompassing and magnificent government. The government of the living God. In “Seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” we have our eyes opened and see the truth that He is a rewarder of those who seek His kingdom first (Matthew 6:33).

How do we see this outworked?

  • Namely, We Stand in Christ’s Victory (1 Corinthians 15:57).
  • Namely, We Dwell in Heavenly Places far above principalities and powers who are arrayed against us (Ephesians 2:6).
  • Namely, we journey knowing that we are more than conquers (Romans 8:37).

That does not mean everything is easy far from it – Where would our sanctification come from if it were and how would the image of Christ become the one we carry?

However, You, Yes! You and I are unique Children of God. We carry Gods Favour, His Blessing, and His Authority.

It’s interesting to consider that God has covenanted with us as He did with Abraham.

In (Genesis 12: 3) we discover a very familiar verse of Scripture it says: – “And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse.” Seems very straightforward on its first reading. However, we read it with western eyes, culture and understanding and we should see it in its natural habitat.

Our vision is often more abstracted by what we think we know than by our lack of knowledge.”

Twice the word “curse” is used (singular and plural) and on both occasions they mean something slightly different – the differences are only small, but they are very significant.

The 1st means – “to make light of something profound, heavy, important.” and the 2nd means – “to utterly destroy.”

So, a clearer rendering for us would be – “I will bless those who bless you, but the one who disrespects you I will utterly destroy.

So, as we go about our functions and these thoughts came to me whilst travelling by train to London Victoria. Let’s remember His Covenant with Abraham remains true for him and all his seed and likewise for us also.

Let’s remember who we are today, let’s remember the World is Changed by Our presence. Our Light sends the Darkness into Retreat (John 1:5) and our Salt Savours all the areas of Life we Touch (Mark 9:50).

God has provided for us it’s been said a supernatural “greenhouse effect”for us His People. What does it do? It impacts the individual worlds He has placed us in and through practicing Kingdom Values, Laws and Principals there is a sustaining flow of God’s power available at all times in our lives, our families our church communities and so much more.

If we recognise that we are strangers and pilgrims (Hebrews 11:13) and we see a City whose Builder and Maker is God (Hebrews 11:10) then the Kingdom Government will have the effect of promoting a culture that will value wholeness of – Body, Soul and Spirit and will have a tangible impact everywhere we go.

We will walk recognising that we journey forward on the foundation of a “completed work” carrying the theology of “It is finished” (Mark 15:37). It is a theology that declares – It’s Done – It’s Accomplished – It’s Paid in full with all that means for each of us.

Jesus didn’t just expire He deliberately released His spirit and He spoke the words with a definitive purpose in mind. Jesus knew what His last words in this life needed to be here in this life. He knew the power those final words would have for generations still to come. He had a profound purpose in them. We see that today as they still breathe life and meaning into our lives today.

We in remembering who we are and where we are headed partner with the presence of the Holy Spirit and this will transform the everyday places of our lives and those around about us.

Finally, we will have no fear in running towards seemingly impossible situations and we will not collapse in the midst of the circumstances we find ourselves in – Why? Because there will be a releasing of the supernatural solutions that only He can provide.

The result will be Employers who are blessed by us. Our Schools enhanced by us. Everything around us being touched by Christ in us who carries the government in His shoulders and its authority is eternal.

Be blessed today my friends.

Albert
