“It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.” –“Ephesians 2:6” The Message
I was struck this day by the thought of the security we have as the Children of God, especially so in respect our eternal destiny.
- We live in days when men’s are hearts are failing then as fear takes hold.
- We live in days when there are those who wonder if God is truly sovereign and in control.
- We live in days when many “church goes” are declining in their attendance.
However, let me encourage you my family in Christ.
Jeremiah reminds us that: –
- Jeremiah reminds us that we have a place that is our sanctuary – Jeremiah 17:12.
- Timothy reminds us that the Lord knows those who are His – 2 Timothy 2:19.
- Paul reminds us that our lives are within the safety of the resurrected Christ – Colossians 3:3.
- Peter reminds us that we are (forever) kept right through to the end of our journey to Heaven – 1 Peter 1:5.
He Jesus is our rock.
In these days when everyone has an opinion. When “icons – rock stars in the religious world” that are enjoying popularity in the so called Christian world are undermining the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith; people such as – Steve Harvey who openly declares the heretical idea that “Jesus is not the only way to Heaven” and people such as Joel Osteen who talks about the “Power of Intention” which is an occultist esoteric term and practice and the such as sports icon Tom Brady the American footballer who plays as a quarterback for the New England Patriots who relies on his Wife who is a self-confessed witch who casts spells, gives him necklaces, healing stones and mantras for his success it is really important that we recognise who Jesus is to us.
In “Matthew 16:13-16” Jesus asked Peter the following question “When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So, they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
I want you to notice the method that Jesus undertook here. He first of all drew from them the erroneous and conflicting opinions of unbelief in the culture and then againgst that background asked them for theirs. It’s an amazing contrast that is revealed and is a revelation of their own ideas. What is reveals is their total lack of unanimity. They said – “So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” – “Matthew 16:14” there revealed were the conflicting opinions of speculative thought and a direct contradiction of what should not have been readily believed amongst them.
In striking contrast steps forward Peter. Notice he does not say – “Well this is the opinion of John, James or Andrew’s view” No! He declares forthrightly “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” – “Matthew 16:16.”
Peter’s confession here was not based upon “…the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” – “1 Corinthians 2:2-5” – He knew Who Christ Was and Who he was in Christ – Do you today my friend.
In Jesus we see that there is an: – Enduring Structure we can rely upon, there is Structure that is Envisioned by Christ Himself and there is the provision of its Eternal Security – and its well to remember that the Church is Not the Building it is every person born from above by a work of the Holy Spirit and an expression of God’s grace.

| 10 | I can find grace and mercy in time of need | Hebrews 4:16 |
| 11 | I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me | 1 John 5:18 |
